Driver/ Program Aide

We are seeking a dedicated Program Aide/Driver to join our team in Roselle, NJ. The primary function of this role is to assist the rehabilitation staff in any area that might benefit the participants with developmental disabilities in the rehabilitation process or program.
Experience with individuals with disabilities, wheelchairs, driving wheelchair vans/wheelchair tie downs, and transportation are all preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Van Driver:
Transports participants to and from home, group activities and other destinations.
Assists participants in and out of the van when necessary.
Maintains and open line of communication with the Director of DDD Programs and others regarding needed transportation.
Operates a 7 to 15 passenger vehicle.
Ensure vehicle(s) are always ready for transport, this includes but is not limited to: safety checks, first aid supplies and updated participant emergency information sheets.
Adheres to and enforces vehicle safety rules when traveling.
Ensures that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle.
When dropping participant off at home, waits until participant is inside their home before driving off.
Secures mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs.
Services the vehicle with fuel, oil, necessary fluids and maintains vehicle in a clean and sanitary condition.
Performs preventative maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying Office Manager of need for further service or repair.
Program Aide:
May be assigned as group leader to facilitate non-therapeutic groups in prevocational, recreational, vocational and/or mental health topics.
May be assigned to assist in the completion of activity-based groups for individuals in all program areas.
Documentation responsibilities could include taking attendance, entering observations into EHR, copying materials used in teaching skills, recording production or monetary amounts, using resources to gather information and use of computers for data entry.
Assist participants to a one-on-one basis to improve academic, social, work performance or job readiness skills as directed by individual supervisor assigned.
Accompany program staff and participants on trips.
Special projects may be assigned by the Director, Vice President of Programs & Services, and/or President/CEO.
Attend meetings as requested.
Participate in periodic trainings and conferences required.
Requirements:
Must have a valid NJ driver’s license and clean driving record, along with a recent driving abstract.
A minimum of 5 years of driving experience is required.
High school education or equivalent GED required.
The ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing is required.

Compensation:
$15.13 - $19.50 per hour
